Accounting & Financial Services

SDMS' Accounting and Financial Division staff works closely with SDMS District Managers to ensure financial information is accurate, comprehensive and reported in a timely manner. The Division prepares regularly scheduled Finance Reports (usually monthly) so Managers and Board Members can monitor planned vs actual financial status and make informed decisions. Additionally, the Division prepares special purpose reports, as needed, to allow for more detailed monitoring of matters such as construction contract status.

From developing pro-forma operating budgets and long range forecasts, to reporting for continuing disclosure compliance for bonded debt, SDMS' Accounting Division provides support for safeguarding the financial health of your District.

Mill Levy Reduction of 50%

SDMS staff’s persistent effort resulted in a combination of debt forgiveness and refinancing of the District’s bond debt in 2015 for a net present value reduction of $1,538,637.  Due to the overall reduction in contracted and bond debt, taxpayers are projected to receive the direct benefit of a reduction in the projected mill levy of approximately 50% (in budget year 2017).
